Hi Nonnie,

I think we can pretty safely say that you aren’t hallucinating. I’m sure by now you’ve seen this gifset of Jensen leaning on Misha and keeping his hand on Misha’s leg even as he moves around (and stands up). That’s the level of close personal space sharing that we’re talking about and that, honestly, we’ve come to expect from them. Here’s a nice compilation of them standing overly close together at all the Jibcon panels. There’s also definitely a funny post that I’m not able to find that says “Jensen and Misha at the start of every panel” and shows them a normal amount apart and then says “Jensen and Misha at the end of every panel” and shows them practically on top of each other. If anyone has that post feel free to link me because it’s not showing up in my archive.

This year they started out their panel like this:

That’s a fairly normal amount of space. Jensen actually even moved his chair slightly further away so he could sit in that position. Once Jared comes out, though, Misha moves his chair thisclose to Jensen…I guess to “make room” onstage?? (Sorry, couldn’t get a lovely freeze-frame but I know you know they are pretty.)

Jeez, Misha, just go ahead and sit on his lap! 

Never mind….Jensen will be leaning into yours so much that it’s unnecessary. 

Even when not actively leaning into each other, though, there’s still a lot more space between Misha and Jared than between Misha and Jensen.

And that’s how it usually is if they have the chance to sit next to each other. My hypothesis is that that is usually why they put Jared in the middle seat at a J2M panel. You could actually hear the audience make a noise of disappointment when he sat between Jensen and Misha at UKcon and he just kind of made a face like “eh, too bad – gotta do this.” I know it sounds like they are in middle school, or even younger, to have to have a classmate seated between them so that they don’t pull each other’s pigtails and flirt mercilessly but tbh that is the vibe I get. When they’re onstage without Jared there is no check in place and we end up with things like this:

I mean, ok, they aren’t sitting down there. But that’s a serious infraction of personal space! Dean Winchester would not approve.
