This is essentially implicitly explicit Destiel canonization and foreshadowed text BtVS Angel-style—the painfully common yet necessary star-crossed lover trope of temporary happiness, which I 100% believe TPTB will do.
Y’all…we may get the D/C Happy Ending with love confessions/the Kiss/making-love scenes (as foreshadowed and silently storytold since S12/13), but Cas will be snatched from Dean post-positive and self-actualized period. Cas’ bargain renders this narrative possibility HIGHLY LIKELY imho.

@castielslostwings also appropriately pointed out that of course it won’t end this way. Their life course will be restored by something (or someone). A BtVS-reminiscent wish or window of opportunity to get Cas back.

Umm let’s not miss the bigger picture here that this bargain Cas made? It’s essentially a guarantee of canon Destiel.
